All welcome to Bev’s place for our annual Xmas gathering
Tas Maritime Radio station
The brief meeting will start soon after 1800 hours at Tas Maritime headquarters on The Domain. Barry McCann will give a short talk on the operation of the station. A BYO everything BBQ will take place after the meeting, allowing for an informal Festive Season get together for members. If you wish to observe the 1733 radio broadcast arrive by 1720. It is necessary for members to remain quiet during this broadcast, and any subsequent broadcasts, The evening has always been a favourite with members, along with our hosts at Tas Maritime. A good opportunity to put a face to the voices we hear while cruising.
A short local cruise to allow a getaway from the silly season preparations. With anchorages in Droughty Point, Richardsons Beach, Huxleys Beach, Maria Point and The Spit there are also areas on the outer western shore to overnight, depending on conditions. This is generally a shallow bay so keep an eye on the chart and the depth sounder.
A get-together for CYCT members prior to the family Christmas events. Relaxing in the garden, a walk along the river and beach, partaking of home made beer, cider or perry. BYO everything and some food to share. Cruise Contacts Al and Dinah onboard TRIM on 0400 473 248
Richard and Shona Taylor onboard Easting Down are our Cruise Contacts for this cruise and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.
The plan is, ofcourse, subject to the weather.
Tue 27th ... Departure from Kettering at 1000 hours and heading for eiher Mickeys or Butlers Beach
Wed 28th ... Move onto Recherche Bay with the Coal Bins, Pigsties, Sayers Beach for anchorages for a night or two
Fri 30th ... Move up to Southport and into Deep Hole anchorage for the night
Sat 31st ... Move up to Dover for New Year‘s Eve. In the afternoon join with our very generous members Tolly and Josephine, hosting a BYO get togewther ashore at their holiday home on Hopetoun Beach. Stay tuned for activities later that night.
Sun 1st Jan ... A New Years Day bbq lunch ashore at Rabbit Island
Mon 2nd ... Time to start heading home.
There is full VHF reception with Tas Maritime along with mobile phone coverage pretty well everywhere. Some supplies could be available in Southport and Dover but best to be prepared and bring everything you could need.. Expect lots of opportunities for a chat about weather helm, prop shaft vibrations, flogging halyards, how the anchor held, why there is water in the dinghy, the size of the flathead and how tasty the offerings were at sundowners last night!
An updated plan will be forwarded to those registered a few days before departure.
Please register now if you want to come along.
